The SMA Formation House in Sowutuom, Accra, has successfully completed a significant phase of renovation aimed at improving the living conditions of seminarians and formators. The renovation focused primarily on upgrading residential rooms and enhancing essential furnishings to create a more comfortable, functional, and dignified environment for the occupants. These improvements have significantly transformed the interior spaces, making them more conducive to study, reflection, and rest—key elements in the formation process.
Provision of New Wardrobes and Beds
The project addressed the furnishing needs of the formation house. New wardrobes were installed in the rooms to provide secure and organized storage for personal belongings. The wardrobes were designed to be durable, practical, and space efficient.
New beds were also provided to replace older furniture that had deteriorated over time. The new beds offer improved comfort and support, contributing to better rest and overall well-being for the occupants.
The upgraded facilities now provide a more suitable environment for prayer, academic work, and communal living. Residents can carry out their daily routines in spaces that are clean, organized, and thoughtfully maintained. The rector of the house Fr Westen Patrick Chewe, SMA, expressed gratitude to PACEM and its donors for their contributions.
The SMA Formation House in Sowutuom in Accra was established in the early 1990s to train missionary priests for Africa. As a seminary, it receives candidates from Ghana, Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast and sometimes Liberia.
