In practice, this means that SMA sees environmental degradation, climate change, and their socio-economic consequences (poverty, food insecurity, displacement, injustice) as part of the mission: not separate from, but integral to, “the Good News” and service to vulnerable populations.
OUR RESPONSE
Our approach is inspired by Laudato Si’ of Pope Francis and in line with SDGs no.13. Good farming methods- proper use of land; reduction in the use of chemicals in farming especially weedicides; cutting of forests for planting and excessive grazing.
We also encourage the use of renewable energy, engage in land management methods, application of alternative livelihood like bee and snail farming, tree planting at depleted forest zones, etc.
